WHO IS MAD MATTY?

By no means have I've seen all the planet has to offer, not even remotely close. Nonetheless, my travels exposed me to some incredible destinations.
And now...well, I'm hoping to share some of those experiences with you.
My first book, "Through Travel and Error: Confessions of an Asylum-Seeking Canadian" is available through this site.
I had guessed that my 'timeless' trip would take me roughly two years. Twenty-four months to explore the four corners of the planet.
Little did I know...
After floating around Europe and working in the Canary Islands, I flew to Cape Town, South Africa for a three-week stint...
Two magical years later, I left.
It was sometime during my stay in Southern Africa that I realized my 'timeless trip' was going to take much, much longer than what anybody, including myself, had anticipated. Two years barely gave me a chance to scratch the surface of what our planet had to offer.
I concluded that the so-called 'travel bug' is indeed real and is next to impossible to cure.
My travels continued...and continued...and continued...
And they continue today.

On September 18, 1998, I 'escaped' Ottawa, Canada with a backpack and a one-way flight to Glasgow, Scotland...a destination that I knew nothing about. Without any contacts, knowledge or guide book, I set off on a mission ... To travel around the world, without a timeline or itinerary. If I liked a spot, I'd stay, if I didn't, I'd leave. The parameters of my trip were as simple as that.
